ECHO — Support
ECHO is a game about echolocation in the dark. You are a point of light in a lightless maze, and the world is visible only in the waves your own voice sends out. Whisper to look; call to be heard further — and to be heard by what is listening.
How to play
- Tap — a whisper. A quiet, close look. Free, and nothing hears it from far away.
- Hold — a call. It reaches much further, it charges resonators, and hunters hear it.
- Swipe — move.
- Double tap — dash.
Restoring a purchase
The campaign unlock is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On a new device, or after reinstalling, open Settings in the game and tap Restore Purchase. The offer screen has the same button.
Restore only works while signed in to the same Apple Account that made the original purchase.
Common questions
I can’t hear anything.
Check the sound slider in the game’s Settings, then your device volume. ECHO plays through the media volume, so it will still be audible with the ring/silent switch on. The game is deliberately quiet and sparse — headphones are strongly recommended, and are how it is meant to be heard.
I don’t feel any vibration.
Turn on haptics in Settings. Haptics need a device with a Taptic Engine (iPhone 8 and later) and are unavailable on the iOS Simulator. Check also that System Haptics is enabled in iOS Settings → Sounds & Haptics.
The movement makes me dizzy.
Turn on reduce motion in the game’s Settings. It stops the camera shake, the parallax of the distant dust, the pulsing of the danger vignette, and the expanding rings in the menus. The echo waves themselves remain, because they are the game. If you have already enabled Reduce Motion in iOS Settings, ECHO follows it automatically.
Is it playable with VoiceOver?
The menus, the level list, the settings, and the in-game controls are labelled for VoiceOver, and the game surface is marked for direct interaction so the gestures still work. Navigating the maze itself, however, is a visual task today and is not yet playable without sight. If this matters to you, please write — it is something we would like to do properly.
I lost my progress.
Progress is stored only on the device and is not backed up to a server, so deleting the app removes it. Your purchase is never lost — it lives on your Apple Account and comes back with Restore Purchase.
Which levels are free?
Levels 1 to 10 — both opening acts and the arrival of the first hunter. The single purchase opens the remaining sixty. There is nothing else to buy, and no advertising.
